Despite the fact Michael Jordan graces the front cover, NBA 2K23 couldn't be more wrong about how good the current Chicago Bulls are. 2K has four currently Bulls players ranked among the best 100 players in the league. DeRozan and LaVine sit in their 19th and 23rd spots respectively, while Nikola Vucevic is ranked No. 59, and Lonzo Ball is in at No. 73. A little surprisingly, Andre Drummond is rated as Chicago's fifth best player, and barely makes the cut.
The team's ratings as a group are in a state of disarray. The Bulls backcourt take the brunt of the damage, as Alex Caruso, Coby White, and Dosunmu were all dropped one point when it is common sense to expect them to all be even better next season. Dosunmu's score of 76 overall is particularly egregious, as the player just won All-Rookie accolades. Fellow All-Rookie Second Team guard Josh Giddey posted roughly equal statistics when compared to Dosunmu (and was outclassed by Ayo in head-to-head matchups) as a starter , however he got a superior 82 overall score.
Rookie Dalen Terry is also assigned a ridiculous 71 overall score, which places him lower than the likes previously mentioned Bulls Matt Thomas, Denzel Valentine, Troy Brown Jr. as well as Tomas Satoransky. Three of those players aren't even listed on an NBA roster while the fourth has the minimum "prove the idea" contract. He'll be joining the other three players in case he doesn't improve in a significant way.
I don't expect Terry to step up and shine right away, but putting Dalen in the middle of these players is quite absurd all things considered. As all things considered, 2K has rated the Chicago Bulls in "Tier 2" which means they're not among the league's top 10 teams. The irony is that the Lakers are among the 10 teams that are in Tier 1, in spite of how messy their roster construction has been the last two years.
